From Farmworkers to Riders

The death of Satnam Singh, the agricultural laborer involved in a terrible workplace accident at a farm in the Pontine countryside, and left to bleed to death by his “master,” shocked public opinion in the spring of 2024, prompting the State to intervene with new controls and penalties. Once the initial media outcry faded, Satnam became one of the many invisible victims whose numbers continue to rise in workplace accidents. This work arises from the need not to forget this death, or at least, to give it meaning. The author unveils the causes, structure, and infinite developments of the phenomenon of labor exploitation, starting from agricultural workers and extending to digital exploitation, from riders to Amazon couriers, all united by the common denominator of the global culture of worker exploitation.
