Editorial director of GFE and founder of the two publishing houses Creativa and Dissensi Edizioni. He has published several essays introduced by Vandana Shiva, Paul Connett, Beppe Grillo, Don Andrea Gallo and Ferdinando Imposimato. He has written in national newspapers and is a blogger for Il Fatto Quotidiano. In the 18th legislature, he was elected Senator of the Republic and served as group leader in the Foreign Affairs Committee and Vice-President at Palazzo Madama for his political force. He has been a member of the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe) and the Council of Europe. He is a founding member of the Social Promotion Association ‘Il Bene fa bene’.
