Gianluca Dettori

Gianluca Dettori is the founder and president of Primomiglio SGR, www.primomigliosgr.it, a technology venture capital company with over 120 million under management across two funds: Barcamper Ventures, which invests in the digital sector, and Primo Space, which invests in the new space economy. As General Partner of Barcamper Ventures, Gianluca is an investor in several startups including Cortilia, Brandon, Cubbit, Codemotion, Sardex, Yolo Insurance, Competitoor, Transactionale, Keyless, Dishcovery. Operating since 2004 as an investor in Italian startups, he has supported over forty technology companies in the Internet/ICT and digital sector, including Vivaticket, Iubenda, Im3D, Banzai (now Eprice), Kiver, Seolab, Viamente. Gianluca, born in 1967, has been working in the Internet since 1995. In 1999 he co-founded Vitaminic, a platform for the distribution of digital music on the web and mobile, holding the position of Chief Executive Officer and leading it to listing on the Nuovo Mercato of the Italian Stock Exchange in 2000. Following the merger with Buongiorno SpA in 2003, he held the position of Head of Mergers & Acquisitions in the Buongiorno Vitaminic Group and Vice President of the Board of Directors. In 2007 he founded dpixel srl, an advisory and consultancy company in the field of innovation, holding the role of President until 2016.
He writes about technology, the Internet and Venture Capital on Wired, Nova de “Il Sole 24 Ore” and StartupItalia.
Graduated in Economics at the University of Turin, he founded and was the first president of the IAB (Internet Advertising Bureau) in Italy, co-founder of First Generation Network, Associazione Techgarage and Fullbright mentor. Gianluca is a Fellow of the Kauffman Society (www.kfp.org) and of the BMW Stiftung Foundation. Gianluca co-founded and is president of VC HUB Italia (https://www.vchub.it/), the association that brings together venture capital operators and the main Italian startups, he is an advisor to the European Commission, within the Future Internet Accelerators project and in various policy design activities.
