Claudio Loi

Barumini, 1958. Journalist, essayist, music critic. He has collaborated with the daily newspaper La Nuova Sardegna and with the periodicals Sonos & Contos and Antas. In 2008 he published L’isola dei dischi. Viaggio attraverso la produzione discografica in Sardegna; in 2010 Sardinia Jazz. Jazz in Sardinia in the 2000s (which received the prestigious Jazzit Award 2010); in 2011 Sardinia Hot Jazz. The origins of jazz in Sardinia from Antonio Gramsci to Marcello Melis; in 2013 Global Jazz, 11 stories and 216 shades of jazz (in Sardinia) and in 2015 Billy! The life and music of Roberto Billy Sechi jazz drummer, all for the Aipsa editions of Cagliari. In 2015 a short essay on the relationship between Marcello Marchesi and jazz appeared in the volume Agenda Marchesi published by Bompiani. In 2018, with Simone Cavagnino, he published Sardegna, Jazz e dintorni. Traditions, travels, music, insularity. He currently collaborates with the periodical SardiniaPost and with the webzine Sa Scena Sarda.
