A theatrical performance by actress and director Patrizia Viglino, accompanied by the piano of Antonella Chironi, inspired by and based on the works of Sergio Atzeni.

“Passavamo sulla terra leggeri” by Sergio Atzeni is a foundational novel that tells the mythical origins of the Sardinians during millennia of solitude, battles against invaders from the sea, and interactions with other peoples, in an ongoing process of confrontation and assimilation that was never completed. It holds the secret and the origin of a people who have always remained connected to their rituals, the deep sense of their identity merged with the land, with the Island they have inhabited since time immemorial.

From the very beginning, the figure of the Judge emerges, one who untangles disputes and makes decisions, as well as the figure of the Keeper of Time, tasked with passing on the oral epic of the Sardinian people to a successor.

The adaptation, curated by Patrizia Viglino, focuses on the first part of Sergio Atzeni’s story, tracing the origins of pre-Nuragic and Nuragic Sardinia, the invasions of the Sea Peoples, the arrival of the Phoenicians, Etruscans, and Genoese fleeing from the Romans. The lesson drawn from this is the realization of the impossibility of avoiding contact and confrontation with other peoples and cultures, in order to grow and evolve. The piano accompaniment by Antonella Chironi enriches the narrative with suggestions and colors.
